Build a free card-game app with games such as Blackjack, Solitaire, Hearts, and Crazy 8s.
Look into using or self-hosting this instead of relying entirely on the hosted Deck of Cards API. Attribute the original GitHub project/API.
Build a Trivial Pursuit-style trivia game. A larger version could allow several people to join a local game using their phones.
Build an anime watchlist and schedule. Store my watchlist locally, periodically retrieve updated show and episode information, and display the next episode on my Plex/status board. A larger project could provide anime search and information pages.
Maintain a list of manga I'm following and check approximately every six hours for newly released English chapters.
Build a Marvel fan project, potentially focused on a particular character such as Ghost-Spider.
Build a Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire fan site with character pages and relationship information. Potential topics include Jon Snow Knows Nothing, Sansa and Arya, character relationships, houses, and character appearances.
When someone opens a character page on the Game of Thrones fan site, retrieve and display a quote from that character.
Add fanfiction discovery to the Game of Thrones project. Character or relationship pages could link to relevant Archive of Our Own searches or fanfiction.

Investigate using DigitalOcean status information in a status-board widget for sites hosted on DigitalOcean. This would represent DigitalOcean/platform status rather than replacing actual uptime monitoring of an individual static site.
Connect website deployments to Internet Archive preservation. After a GitHub commit or deployment, a workflow could determine which pages changed and request updated snapshots from the Internet Archive to keep archived versions of my sites reasonably current.
Use the Flickr API on my personal photography page to retrieve and display only my own photographs rather than using other photographers' work.
Create a tiny, text-only status-board widget showing today's sunrise and sunset times.
Add a small calendar widget showing a countdown to the next Canadian holiday. Rather than repeatedly querying the source, import or store the holiday information locally approximately once per year, perhaps around December 25 for the upcoming year.
Add maps to projects that have location-based information. One possibility is using it on the Bengal cat/rescue project to show rescue organizations or other relevant locations.
Potential fun extra for the flashcard builder. For a genuinely useful language feature, investigate a proper English/Japanese dictionary or translation API and provide quick word lookups from a flashcard.
Build a small experimental or fan project around product information. Exact project idea still to be decided.
Keep as a useful media-search API for a future project where Apple or iTunes catalogue information would be useful.
Investigated as a possible source of interesting Canadian public datasets and APIs. Nothing immediately jumped out as a fun project, but it is worth keeping bookmarked in case a useful dataset appears later.
